Commodity Prices matter but so do currency exchange rates!
Oil prices are based off of USD but then adjusted for a variety of factors including transportation, quality, and sulphur content.
The abundance of natural gas in Western Canada has led to discounted pricing relative to US prices due mostly to a lack of pipeline egress and supply growth exceeding demand.
Currency impacts realized pricing. For example, a lower CAD results in a higher realized oil price ceteris paribus.
Lastly, marketing of product impacts realized pricing reliant upon transportation and accessing new demand users, (such as LNG exports), or converting natural gas into electricity
